Why is north face…?
Gotten so popular. I rock climb, mountain climb, and hike all the time and i tend to wear brands like north face, mountain hardwear, patagonia, marmot, arct’ teryx and so on because thats what there MADE FOR. But now north face and mountain hard wear is worn everywhere i go. Me and my climbing buddys like to be different but now, EVERYONE wheres it. I mean i know there warm. but y does everyone where them now?
The poser crowd has always worn technical clothing around town because they can afford it – you have to admit it is very cool clothing. For decades there are a couple of local sporting goods stores where I live that have stayed in buisiness selling technical clothes to people that never set foot on the trail or the ski.
The North Face has always been at the height of this “fashion statement”. I would wear TNF every day if I could afford a whole closet full, but I save my lightweight GoreTex Extreme shell for summits and my Marmot Soft Shell jacket for those “go light” one day climbs.
Just be glad that you aren’t a poser too and that you actually bought your technical gear for what it was intended and that it might be worn out a little from actually using it climbing when you do wear it around town.
