Utility Tarp

How much rope to attach to tarp?

I have purchased a 8′ x 10′ tarp and i also have 100 metres of paracord. I didn’t want to buy an expensive utility tarp as i can get the same use out of a normal tarp, but i am just wanting to know roughly how much paracord to attach to each corner of the tarp etc
I am just wanting to suspend it between the trees on a slight angle to enable the rain to run off. We are just wanting it so that we can still sit outside and cook our meal in the evenings and keep dry.
I think there is only one tree though, so therefore we can only attach one corner to that and would it be possible to prop the rest of the corners up with wooden stakes? We are not taking any poles so they will have to be what we can find. Will it stay up if we prop other three corners up and peg them down with the cord also.

Depends entirely on what your going to attach the rope too. If just using it with six foot poles at the corners you probably could get by with 2 lines at 12ft length for each corner to stake it out.

Using it as you describe I would not pre-attache the rope just bring the rope with you and a knife. Paracord as suggested is a good type of rope to bring also bring some long metal tent stakes here is a pic showing your description,
